A Third Bedroom’s Worth of Room, Without the Third Bedroom

At 1,850 heated square feet the Red Maple is the roomiest two-bedroom plan at Fox Run, and it gets there on a single level. The house runs long and low along the street: gathering room, then cafe, then kitchen in one continuous band, with the porches strung along the front and every working room pushed to the back.

The extra square footage goes where a two-bedroom house usually has to compromise. There is a real flex room — 12’-4” by 10’-3”, the size of a bedroom — that works as a study, a media room, or the guest room you do not have to give a closet to. And the owner’s side of the house has its own wing: a 13’-0” by 16’-0” bedroom, a walk-in closet with room for a dresser, and a 5’-9” by 13’-0” bath with a zero-threshold shower.

Everyday traffic comes in through the rear entry — 5’-4” by 16’-1”, long enough for a bench and an optional hall tree — past the laundry, pantries and storage, and never through the living room.
